These are some of the mostly commonly asked questions about our Madison medical practice, the care we provide, and the direct primary care model.
Yes! Dr. Liz Larson offers OB and Delivery services to our member patients.
Dr. Larson is available at our Odana Road (Madison) location on Monday and Tuesday each week. She also operates OLHC’s satellite location, 1235 Park Ave, Columbus, WI on Thursdays from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. This location will be open to member patients only. Members may call 608-819-8544 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Larson at either location.
Our clinic provides routine annual lab screening as part of a membership, these include: Finger stick blood glucose, Mono spot test, Pregnancy test, Strep (Rapid Screen), and urinalysis. Other labs are available as needed for a low-cost cash price through Quest Diagnositics. X-rays and imaging are ordered as needed. Our members can go to any outside facility that accepts their insurance for labs and imaging if they would like, otherwise, OLHC search to find the lowest cash price for these services.
OLHC dispenses prescription medication from our clinic. (We can not dispense medications prescribed by an outside provider.) If a member prefers to use another pharmacy, we can send their prescription to wherever they choose.
Our provider will write specialist referrals. Member's insurance will generally cover these services under the normal provisions of their insurance plan. However, policies may vary with other insurers. Confirm with your insurer.
Member's insurance will cover their hospitalization. Members will be in the care of a Hospitalist and/or Specialist during hospitalization. However, Our Lady of Hope Clinic physicians will communicate with outside providers and will coordinate outside care when necessary.
OLHC Members may pay their fees monthly, using a credit card or through automatic bank withdrawals. They may also pay for one year of membership with a check or credit card.
Since OLHC non-profit public benefit corporation, with a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, membership fees are tax-deductible, less services used.
Yes. The care of your loved ones (adult children, their family, your parents) or even someone you don't know can be made possible by your generous sponsorship. Please see the donor letter for more information.
Our members are given direct contact to Dr. Mike at all times. They may reach him via text, email, or by calling his cell phone. All text and email messages are secure and will be directly linked to their Electronic Medical Records.
Our members do carry insurance to cover medical needs outside our clinic, like hospital stays, visits to specialists or specialized tests. Membership at our clinic pairs well with lots of different insurance options.
Some of our members have high-deductible health plans. Having a high-deductible health plan can save patients money on their monthly premium, but unfortunately coming up with the out-of-pocket cost for a visit can be expensive. Many of these patients find it more affordable to receive their primary care at our clinic for a small monthly fee, than it would be to be seen at a traditional clinic because of the large out-of-pocket cost and co-pays that come with their high deductible health plan.
Some of our member patients choose to participate in medical cost sharing programs. Medical cost sharing programs, while not insurance, do allow program participants to share the medical expenses with other participants. This type of medical cost sharing works very well with membership at OLHC, with all your primary care needs taken care of in our clinic for the monthly membership fee and any outside medical needs shared among the medical cost sharing program participants.
Regardless of what insurance plan you select, generally speaking, our clinic saves people money with our low-cost, transparent fee structure.
Our clinic saves people money with our low-cost, transparent fee structure. The monthly fee covers all primary care office visits, annual wellness exams, well-child exams, sports physicals, school physicals, basic office procedures, treatment of acute illness or minor injuries, management of chronic medical conditions and unprecedented access to your doctor by phone, text or email. Our patients will also have access to discounted labs and prescriptions. And because OLHC is a nonprofit organization, your member fees are tax-deductible (less services used.)
Uninsured recipients can schedule appointments in person on a first-come, first-serve basis on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 9:00 a.m. to schedule a morning appointment, and on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. to schedule an afternoon appointment. We ask that our recipient patients arrive at least 10 minutes early (8:50 a.m. or 12:50 p.m.) for the best possible chance of getting on our providers schedule during any given shift. Although we do our best to treat everyone who walks through our doors, please be aware that we occasionally have to ask our recipients to come back at a later time due to high patient-provider demand.
Dr. Michael Kloess or Dr. Liz Larson do not speak a language other than English. We do have limited access to a medical interpreter telephone line, and we can also have volunteer interpreters, but we encourage non-English speakers to bring an English speaking friend or relative to the appointment if possible.
